I've finally played and recorded some high quality MP3, thanks to the help of Rebecca Uberoi and her Yamaha Clavinova. Please excuse my occasional "grammatical error"! The MP3s are great to listen to and have full dynamics, whereas the MIDI files are the most technically accurate. I'm hoping to get Sibelius software soon, which may be able to have both dynamics and accuracy - watch this space.

Serious Stuff

Music which I have written to a high standard. These pieces can be technically demanding on the pianist, and are longer in duration. Very rewarding if you can master them though!

Serious Waltz	A distinguished piece with a rousing beat.	3
The Little Harlequin	Playful throughout, weaving multiple themes.	3
Sitting By The Thames	Hugely challenging and epic in scope. Written for my A-levels!	4
Shifting Horizons	Varied, way out there, but makes sense! Good percussive section.	4
Funeral March	Solemn block chord harmonies for those who have taken life seriously.	3
All Dignified	Early composition with a stately pace.	3

Easy-to-listen Stuff

Short piano pieces, melodic and harmonious, easier to play for the average pianist.

Mushroom Land	Funky and melodic, with a rhythmic hook.	2
Kingston Jig	Jubilant, sing-along, syncopated with lavish harmonies.	2
Larry the Lawnmower	Inspired by a very famous talking train-engine.	2
Toad Fever	Adaptation of a tune from Rare's Battletoads on Gameboy.	2
Eastern Theme	Unusual time signature with 7 beats in a bar.	2
Prelude for Pipe Organ	The kind of thing that an organ scholar might like to play behind closed doors.	2
Mario Tribute	A transcription of Super Mario Bros music. This accompanies the first level on the original NES version.	2
Mario Gameboy Tribute	An arrangement of Super Mario Land music. This accompanies the first level on the original Gameboy version.	1
Peach Valley (Duet - 1 keyboard)	A delightful duet for 4 hands and 1 piano. Similar in style to Chopsticks.	2
Study #1	Inventive; unusual chords, melodic sequences and percussive interludes.	2

Weird Stuff

Experimental music which you might or might not like. Personally, I like music with a bit of a raw edge to it!

The Giraffe with the Sore Thumb	Every time you hit the high note, the pianist should say 'Ow'!	2
Short Nasty Music	A horrible but thankfully short composition.	1
The Little Cockroach	Imagine the little monster scuttling about your bathroom, with its spiny legs tapping gently on the tiles... That is not really much like this.	2
Uneasy Listening in 7 Sections	Creepy and enthralling.	1
Petrolpants	Written originally without barlines. Minimal artistic merit.	3
Unplayable Piece	Quite tough to play, discordant to the point of disgust. I like it though!	5

Tim's Stuff

Tim Cooling is a good school friend of mine, and was once in a bit of a pickle with his GCSE coursework. These three pieces popped out very close to the deadline!

Music Software

It takes a while to write good music, but its easier with good software! My software is excellent, and its called Mozart 7. The current edition (Mozart Virtuoso) promises to be even better, and is available for purchase at http://www.mozart.co.uk.

Purpose of New Piano Music

I grew up listening to, playing and writing classical piano music, and my favourite composers are Chopin, Debussy and Bach. Its fantastic to be able to play even a small bit of piano or keyboard music. Whether you play exactly what's written on the page, or improvise off the top of your head, playing piano or keyboard is a very satisfying skill.

I want to encourage everyone to play piano. On each of the pages above you can find some sample piano music, along with a recording of the same piece. Beginners and concert pianists alike can listen to the music, and maybe follow the note patterns on page which represent the sounds played. Advanced musicians can have a go at playing the music themselves!

Let me know if you like my music, and I will be able to send you high quality printed copies in the post.
